Prioritize With Purpose: Moving From Urgency to Alignment
Happy November, good people. 🍂
As we enter the final two months of the year, this is a good time to remember:
Just because something feels urgent doesn’t mean it is important, strategic, or aligned.
Urgent things tend to demand our attention now. They come with deadlines, notifications, requests, pressure (often from other people), and consequences if we don’t respond quickly.
Important things are different. They are often connected to our long-term goals, values, relationships, well-being, and the work that will matter long after today’s inbox is cleared.
Strategic work moves us toward the bigger outcomes we’re trying to create, and aligned work fits our mission, priorities, values, and the direction we’ve decided to go in.
Because important, strategic, and aligned work doesn't always scream for our attention, it can easily get pushed aside by whatever feels most immediate.
So as November begins, consider asking yourself the following questions and writing down your responses.
✅ What truly requires my attention right now?
✅ What feels urgent, but is not actually important?
✅ What important or strategic work have I been postponing because louder things keep getting in the way?
✅ What no longer deserves my time simply because it is not aligned with where I’m going?
A final reminder that being productive is not just about getting more done. It's about getting the RIGHT things done!
Here’s to a November grounded in discernment, focused intention, and aligned actions.
